The New Beginning Finally Begins

Ever since I shut down my old Hillbilly Handiworks blog years ago, I have really struggled with where I was headed and what in the world I was supposed to be doing in life.

We did, of course, get Stephen’s business up and going. But, even then, it was a new business, test the waters sort of thing. Add in the pandemic and it suddenly became a very strange sort waters to test. We got through it with some ups and downs, and learned much along the way.

At this very moment in time— this Sunday afternoon, when the entire rest of our town is prepping for the Chiefs to be in the Super Bowl, I am just stoked to finally be getting my business off the ground! This website is amazing and I am so happy with how it turned out. I haven’t even been able to sleep, hopping up early in the mornings to work on the content. With blog integration, I’ll be able to explain new product lines and give ideas for product use. I’ve integrated systems to allow for all sorts of payment methods, and am really pleased with the ability to separate each business, yet still use the same URL.

Here are some fun things coming with our new website, our new year and finally our new beginning that we’ve been working towards for quite some time. Our goals are:

1) To go on our first big vacation in April. Stephen wants to go to the Airforce Museum in Dayton. Hopefully we can go to Texas at the end of the summer as well to visit Stephen’s grandmother and other family from his dad’s side. He doesn’t really know them and he needs to.

2) Stephen turns 12 in December. Turning 12 is really big for him. It means that he can dive deeper, which means we’d like to go find an ocean in 2022. It also means that he can join the Civil Air Patrol, which he has been waiting on for years. He needs to sell product to pay for his goals, so we are vamping up that Stephen’s Trinkets product range.

3) I hope to get enough sewing students and sell enough product from Coco and Theodore to feel confident enough to quit door dash by end of the summer. I don’t really mind dashing and it’s good exercise for me. But, it does take away from sewing time at home, and the more I can sew, its more that I can sell.

Stephen is working on several new product lines, this being one of them. This sample is from the designers page but be watching for LED shadow boxes. He already has his first order!

Besides the amazing shadow boxes, Stephen is adding tons to his NEW VFELTIES line, as well as soft toys, quiet books, un paper dolls, finger puppets, dog toys and MORE.

Coco and Theodore is opening now! Even though I was frustrated at it’s late start, I am so happy I waited so that I could tweak it to a perfection of unique product lines. Take a look at the categories if you are wondering exactly what Coco and Theodore will have to offer in the new future.

Sewing classes are forming, with some students already signing up.

In the next week I will write a blog post explaining the line up of classes, pricing, and scheduling. With many, many years of teaching sewing and quilting under my belt, I am excited to return to something that makes my soul smile. I love to help people learn to be creative with fiber.
